School Playbook

In consultation with Dr. Greg Jones, former Kenwood Academy Principal and Executive Director of The Academy Group, The Chicago Principal Partnership developed a rubric for administrative teams to assess different dimensions of their school’s organizational capacity: the School Playbook.

Organized into distinct structural components – with specific readiness elements attached to each – this tool supports the coordination of tasks to achieve organizational aims. By continually utilizing this rubric in planning, school leaders can effectively recognize and celebrate strength areas and identify areas for improvement.

After building a foundation of standard routines, principals can focus on working proactively, identifying partnership opportunities, and innovating programs to meet the needs of students, parents, and staff.
